Hegel CDP2A MK2

The entry level Hegel CD-player is fully based upon the core design of our reference CDP4A, mainting many of the qualities of its bigger brother. CDP2A MK2 has a high quality CD-Drive mechanism is designed in house by Hegel. This is the same drive as the one you can find in the CDP4A. No other CD player in this price range can match Hegel CDP2A MK2 when it comes to reproduce the analog music experience that is recorded on a CD. On its advanced surface mounted audio circuit board, the player has multilevel 24-bit 192kHz converters for a true balanced signal conversion, in addition to Hegel's proprietary analog stages. The CDP2A MK2 is also using the Hegel master clock circuit with an extremely low jitter level.

The left control button does, in addition to being the On/Off button, allow you to navigate between the different tracks on the CD. The right button opens and closes the CD tray, as well as starting and stopping the playback. It is ultimately easy to operate, and fits beautifully with the other Hegel system components. CDP2A MK2 has both digital and analog outputs for different types of connectors. The digital output is perfect for use with an external DA-converter like the Hegel HD10.

CDP2A MK2 can be used with any type of music system, but to fully take advantage of Hegel's revolutionary music reproduction, we recommend that you use our CDP2A MK2 in combination with Hegel amplifiers and preamplifiers. The CDP2A was awarded "Best Buy" by Hi-Fi Choice magazine. The CDP2A was also awarded CD-player of the Year 2006-2007 by Norwegian magazine "Lyd & Bilde" and CD-player of the Year 2006-2007 by Swedish magazine "Bild och Ljud".

Is the Hegel CDP2A MK2 available in different colours?
The Hegel products are available in the standard "Pearl silver" colour. The finish is made by blasting the solid aluminium front panel and knobs with tiny glass particles and anodizing the surface. The top cover is brushed and anodized aluminium. The CDP2A MK2 can also be delivered in a completely black anodized colour.
Can the Hegel CDP2A MK2 be used with other amplifiers than Hegel?
All the different Hegel units has got a neutral sound signature, so that they can be used together with other high quality audio units from different manufacturers. However we recommend you to listen to a combination of a CDP2A MK2 and a Hegel amplifier for optimal sound quality.
Is the Hegel CDP2A MK2 true balanced?
Both the balanced and unbalanced outputs of the CDP2A MK2 are using true electronically balanced signal processing from the CD-drive and to the outputs. The unbalanced outputs are converted to a single ended signal directly from the balanced outputs, keeping the signal in the balanced domain as long as possible.
What is the difference between the CDP2A MK2 and the CDP4A?
The CDP2A MK2 is using a less advanced audio board than the CDP4A.
Is the CDP2A MK2 using upsampling?
The CDP2A MK2 is using syncronised upsampling and 24 bit 192kHz DACs together with a highly accurate discrete master clock circuit. The SuperClock master reference clock has got clock jitter less than 14ps.
How can I use the pause function when playing a CD?
While the CDP2A MK2 is playing a CD the pause function can be activated by pressing the play button on the CDP2A MK2 or the play button on the remote control. The pause function is indicated by the text "PAUSE" flashing in the display. To restart the track from pause, press play once more.

What kind of CD-drive is used in the CDP2A MK2?
The CD-servo board is developed in-house by Hegel and the laser assembly is a SONY unit. The CD-drive uses a SuperClock reference clock signal from the master clock oscillator on the audio board to keep the clocking jitter extremely low.
Can the CDP2A MK2 play CD-R discs?
The CDP2A MK2 will play CD-R discs within the Red Book Specifications, but will not play MP3 files.
